Família Petuba

The sisters Petuba – Zenilda (1963), Zenaide (1965) and Zeneide (1967) – daughters of Marinete (1944), were born in Arapiraca, Alagoas. Marinete began to work as a seamstress and with the flaps she started making dolls for her daughters. They began doing art work in 1993, with teacher Zezito Guedes in Arapiraca, carving stones.

The family took the cloth dolls to ARTENOR in Maceió, and with the success of the initiative they were encouraged to continue working with cloths and embroidery, which today is their main activity. Petuba’s family creates paintings and panels embroidered on canvas, with fragments of cloth, usually depicting children’s scenes and life in the interior, works that enchant to reflect a rare ability of composition, perspective and use of colors.
