Rogério Camacho

”I do not believe in theories to make art; I believe, yes, in the teachings of life. A pictorial space is taking shape, images that define themselves within the established chaos … There I see the corners, the noises of the world. My father’s inheritances fit in, just as the dawn was so like yesterday. And hence the work imposes itself, just like an old and strong drink – the act of making art. ”

Born in the city of Rio de Janeiro in 1952. In 1973, he entered the School of Fine Arts of UFRJ, where he studied various engraving techniques. In parallel, he worked in cinema and theater with filmmaker André Faria. From 1979 to 1984, he worked in restoration of works of art, acquiring a technical baggage that few contemporary artists have. Since 1977, he has been exhibiting his works in galleries and halls in Brazil and Spain, where he lived for one year between 1993 and 1994. His work is represented in several private collections in Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Japan and the United States.
