Zezinha

Maria José Gomes da Silva, Zezinha, was born in 1968 in Campo Alegre, in the Jequitinhonha Valley region, northeast of Minas Gerais. Born from a potter family, her father, Manuel Gomes da Silva, was one of the few male potters in the region. Today she lives in the rural area of ​​Coqueiro do Campo, where she works daily on clay modelling. She is one of the most important and productive artists of the new generation of creative women who work with the characteristic clay of the region. In performing her high quality technical parts, she achieves great visual effect and refined finish.
