Tomie Ohtake


Tomie Ohtake, born in 1913, arrived in Brazil in 1936 and settled in São Paulo. She began her studies in painting in 1952. In 1953, she joined the Seibi Group alongside other artists of Japanese origin. In 2000 the Tomie Ohtake Institute was launched in São Paulo and was designed and coordinated by Ricardo Ohtake and designed by Ruy Ohtake, both of his sons.

She passed away in 2015.
