Miguel dos Santos

Miguel Dos Santos (1944) was born in Caruaru – PE but, since 1960, he lives in João Pessoa, PB, where he owns an atelier. The versatile artist (potter and painter) also sculpts pieces in marble and wood. He has participated in dozens of individual and collective exhibitions in important galleries and museums in Brazil and abroad: Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Porto Alegre, Joao Pessoa, Brasilia and also in Argentina, Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, the United States and Nigeria.

Miguel releases his fantasy creating very personal sculptures turned to magical realism, enamored by the Northeastern myths, exploring with competence the figurative composition of mythical animals or fantastic vestiges of the past with greetings to many gods. The African influence is evident with the making of ritualistic masks. The dedication of its technique of modeling and decoration is translated into small and large pieces.
